Who we are

Bafenyi, meaning "winners" in Setswana, is a community-driven organization dedicated to uplifting individuals regardless of their circumstances. Rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, purpose, and love, we are committed to reaching out to adults and children residing in marginalized areas of our community. Our mission is to provide both physical sustenance and spiritual nourishment, thereby combating poverty and hopelessness.

Our Vision

To see people win regardless of their circumstances by bringing sustainable transformation while keeping our eyes on Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

To bring spiritual & social upliftment through evangelism, discipleship, life skills training and alleviation of hunger in our local community.

Our Story

Bafenyi Trust, founded in 2009, is an organisation passionate and driven towards community development in Ikageng, Promosa and Potchefstroom. We want to see the lives of people who are disadvantaged and hopeless, transformed by equipping and empowering them to become positive contributing members of society. Bafenyi Trust partners and collaborates with like minded organisations to bring hope, love and transformation to those that need it most.

What we do

Atisa Program (Adults)

We have 6 weekly discipleship groups where we minister the word of God and teach life skills to 300 adults. Our desire is to see our beneficiaries become responsible, kind, compassionate, and God-fearing individuals who will positively impact society.

Kids Clubs

Recognizing that not all children are raised in nurturing environments, our Kids' Clubs provide a safe haven where children can experience love, enjoy a nutritious meal, and encounter God through biblical teachings. Our weekly Kids’ Clubs cater for children in Grade R-9 where they are taught through engaging biblical lessons, life skills training, and games. The kids clubs are in 4 different locations around Ikageng and Promosa each week. The children are also encouraged to develop their gifts through the talent development program.

After-school Program

Mathematics and English are foundational subjects that support other areas of learning. Unfortunately, some of our children attending Primary school weren't able to read or comprehend content and apply basic numeracy methods. The program supports learners from grade 3 - 7, every week from Mondays to Wednesdays for 2 hours a day. Our heart is to see the learners gain confidence in themselves and graduate from the program with firmer foundations, and a deep desire to excel in every area of their lives.

Feeding Scheme

We feed 1300 people per week. Some of our beneficiaries will at times go to bed hungry due to various reasons. Hunger and malnutrition can hinder one’s ability to work or attend school so we are committed to serving them a nutritious meal.

Winter Project

Caring for the less fortunate in the cold winter seasons is crucial for us. This project runs annually, where we partner with donors to buy winter essentials for those in need. Items such as, blankets, scarfs, socks, beanies and soup are received from donors.

Christmas Project

Christmas is often seen as a time for spending quality time with loved ones, when people come together, share meals and exchange gifts. It is also a time for us to celebrate our groups by expressing our love and appreciation towards them. During this time, we prepare a special meal for them and hand out Christmas gifts. Our beneficiaries don’t always come from healthy environments which has made us intentional about serving them with compassion and unconditional love.

Our Approach

Accountability: We are committed to transparency and accountability in all our endeavors. Every donation received is handled with responsibility and honesty, ensuring that resources are utilized effectively to benefit those we serve.

Love and Compassion: Central to our ethos is the practice of loving others unconditionally, following the example set by Jesus Christ. By extending kindness and compassion to those in need, we foster an environment of care and support.

Community Building: Through initiatives like the construction of a community center in Promosa, we provide a space for networking, training, and collaboration among like-minded organizations. By joining hands with partners such as Feisty Females and Fire and Fragrance South Africa, we amplify our impact and create a stronger, more unified community.
